In India Google Cloud and a Google Cloud Region will be launched in Mumbai in 2017 announced Google Cloud’s APAC MD Rick Harshman in a blog post.
Google has announced seven new Google Cloud Regions – Singapore, Sydney, Northern Virginia, São Paulo, London, Finland and Frankfurt. Like Mumbai, each of these regions will come online through 2017.
“Our investment in a local Cloud Region reaffirms our commitment to our customers in India. The local region will help make Google Cloud Platform services even faster for Indian developers and enterprise customers, enhancing differentiators that are already motivating companies to choose us as their partner. As India’s startup community continues to grow, Cloud Platform provides the full stack of services to build, test and deploy their applications,” wrote Harshman.
He also named global key customers who are already leveraging the benefits of Google Cloud Platform which include SnapChat creator Snap Inc, Pokemon Go creator Niantic Labs and Evernote. While in India some of the major brands include Wipro, Ashok Leyland, Smartshift by Mahindra & Mahindra, Dainik Bhaskar Group and INshorts.com building on Google Cloud Platform.
