Trade Association of Information Technology (TAIT), recently conducted a cybercrime workshop as part of its TKS – TAIT Knowledge series.
The workshop was conducted by cybercrime and ethical hacking specialist Sachin Dedhia where he demonstrated how easy it was to decode a password by showing Member volunteers their own Facebook and Gmail passwords.
Vivek Gandhi, VP, TAIT, said, “I thought my Facebook password was secure but in a few seconds it became public knowledge.”
Sachin Dedhia also talked about banking and credit card frauds, credit card cloning, and various other credit and debit card related frauds.
He also demonstrated call spoofing: when person A calls but caller ID of Person B is displayed and also gave various examples of frauds that can be perpetrated using such tools and a combination of email spoofing.
Rushabh Shah, President, TAIT, said, “Such workshops add lot of value to members’ understanding of the increased threats from the online space and how members and their families can take simple steps to protect themselves from a lot of vulnerabilities.”
